Snow, Snow, Snow

One of my all-time favourite movies is ‘White Christmas’.  I view it at least three times during the festive season much to the annoyance of the family. I am always hoping for snow at Christmas but that has only happened twice in my life. So when I watch enthralled by Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye singing and dancing their way through to the finale when the snow finally falls, I am always dreaming of a large snowfall. In the movie, the recurring ironic punchline is ‘Lots of snow in Vermont at this time of the year’.

When we moved to Powdermills Bed and Breakfast, the locals told us it rarely snows in Furnace as it is so close to Loch Fyne.  Well you could have fooled us, as this morning we looked out of the window to see winter wonderland for the second time in a week.

We have witnessed all the seasons since we moved here in September – sun and lots of rain, so the snow is a welcome change.  Of course, it’s our dogs – Mabel and Boo – who have really enjoyed the snow.  And it has provided beautiful landscapes for the grounds and the views south down Loch Fyne.

It is very nearly something to sing and dance about.
